Mr. Hansen has spent his entire professional career at Sabin Metal Corp. He graduated from Stony Brook University (New York) with a B.S. degree in Biology in 1983. That same year he joined the company’s Futures Brokerage division, working on the Commodities Exchange trading floor for Sabin Commodities, the company’s Precious Metals trading organization. In 1986 he became a member and registered floor broker at COMEX. His role in that position included representing Sabin’s clients in the execution of gold and silver futures transactions, as well as proprietary trading.
Mr. Hansen also served as a member of the COMEX Floor Committee; his responsibilities there included maintaining orderly open outcry markets in gold futures. In 2001 he was appointed manager of Sabin Commodities precious metals futures brokerage and trading operations. He was a 20-year member of the COMEX settlement committee, where his responsibilities included determining daily closing values for gold and silver futures contracts extending five years forward.
In 2011 Mr. Hansen left the trading pits of NYC and assumed his current role as Director and Manager of Corporate Operations. Working from Sabin’s Corporate headquarters in East Hampton, NY, he serves as liaison between clients, the company’s recovery and refining processing facilities, its global technical sales and service facilities, and Sabin President Jonathan Sabin.
Mr. Hansen also serves as Director of Sabin Metal Corporation DMCC Branch, Sabin’s Dubai, UAE division. His responsibilities include the coordination, administration and support of Sabin’s Catalyst recovery services in the Middle East and Africa.
He is married, the father of 3 children and 2 grand- children. He spends his spare time in Montauk, NY where he can usually be found fishing from his boat or from the beaches.
