Andy is enthusiastically passionate about making a positive impact to our environment. He knows that young people are the future, and education is the key to motivate and enable the future world to start making changes today. Therefore, schools become one of his philanthropic focuses in terms of protecting the environment.
The Andrew Sabin Family Foundation funded the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University and supports the Emmet Center in Climate Change at UCLA School of Law.
The Foundation makes a $25,000 Sabin Sustainable Venture Prize annually at the Yale Center for Business and Environment for the most promising sustainability-related start up.The Foundation also makes a significant number of scholarship awards at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science to international graduate students with the intent that they will continue their work back in their home countries.
Andy is a Field Associate at the Museum of Natural History in New York, and a major sponsor of the reptile exhibit at the Bronx Zoo. And thousands of miles away, seeking a way to spur environmental concerns in the former Soviet Union, Andy established the Sabin Conservation Prize, an award that recognizes outstanding achievement in the protection of the Russian environment. That gift and leadership was recognized by the Russian Environmental Center for his ‘dedication in preserving the global environment.’
